Pray that $1300 would fall out of the sky and land in my lap in the form of an Apple Computer store gift certificate (so I don't feel AS guilty spending so much money on computers...).

if it helps, Apple sells refurbished computers with the exact same warranty but for 10-20% less. that's what i got and i'm happy.
or you could get a PC . . . but that is clearly not a real option.
